BUILDING KUIU

Boswell Project Part III

The Boswell Custom .300 WSM KUIU Ultralight Rifle arrived this week.  Steve was right when he told me the photos of this gun do not do it justice. Steve’s work is meticulous.  The Zeiss Conquest 3.5-10 X 44 Rapid-Z 800 was a great recommendation by Zeiss for this gun build.

I took it to a friend’s private range that extends out to 700 yards.

The first two shots at 100 yards from a Lead-Sled were touching as you can see where I am pointing.  The third shot was shot off a bench rest and was 1/4″ to the right.

I took two shots at 700 yards and both bullets were within 3 inches of each other.  The Zeiss Conquest Rapid-Z 800 made this shot distance manageable.  Proof this light weight gun can shoot at distance.  Steve set this gun up to shoot a 168 Grain Barnes TTSX Bullet.

I was also pleasantly surprised at not only the accuracy for such a light weight set up but how easy this gun was to shoot, the recoil was much less than I expected.  This is going to be a fantastic mountain hunting gun.

Cash’s first trip to the range and he loved every second of it.

The next stop for the Boswell KUIU Ultra-light rifle will be Edmonton today and then up to Norman Wells, NWT Monday morning, then into Base Camp at Arctic Red River Outfitters on Tuesday and into the Mackenzie Mountains via Super Cub for 10 days of sheep hunting.
