Our Hat Supplier just notified me the new Cordura fabric cannot be made into a flex-fit because it does not stretch.
The Stark brothers and a few others recommended a fitted hat versus flex-fit. The hat supplier can make us a size run of fitted caps.
I need to know what sizes we will need. For those of you who know your hat sizes will you please comment your size. This will be really helpful for me to get a size range that covers everyone.
I am excited about being able to offer a fitted hat, as Justin mentioned this is the type of product KUIU should be offering.
Thanks again for all of your help and input. It is how we make KUIU a next level company.
Jason

I personally have a large head, so the 7 1/2-7 3/4″ would be great!
7 1/4
Nice, I prefer fitted and clean look. Size 7 1/2
7 3/8
7 1/4. Great idea, I love fitted caps.
6 7/8 on hat size. Fitted hat is a cool idea.
Do you have a design yet?
My noggin runs 7 3/8 – 7 1/2
7 3/8
7 1/4
I would recommend asking the hat suppliers. They know this data and should easily be able to provide a ratio volume from one size to another. Or a utilization curve on a graph…or sales curve. No need to guess…or use as another data point for your decision.
Jason,
do you have a sizing chart or is there a standard one that is used?
Cheers,
Mike
7 1/2 – 7 5/8

I am a 7 1/2 to 7 5/8.
I have a fat head to 7 1/2 for me.
I have a large melon. 7 3/4 works for me. Thanks

7-5/8. As someone mentioned as part of the first hat discussion, it would be great if the hats would come down farther on my head. Many don’t come down far enough and blow off my head in the wind. The Patagonia spoonbill hat had a good fit, came down farther than the tops of my ears, stays on in strong winds, and has one of the best adjustable fit mechanisms I’ve used on any hat. Worth taking a look at.
7 to 7 1/8″, pretty common I think.
7 1/8 sometimes 7 1/4
7 1/4″

7 and 1/4
7-5/8 to 7-3/4 for me. The tough part will be that some guys like a snug fit…some go a bit looser. I sometimes prefer to wear a thin merino or synth beanie under my hat. That’s where the flex-fit is so nice.
7-7 1/4 I really love fitted hats also I like a 100% wool model if possible and a camo vias fitted.
7 1/4

7 3/8
7 3/8- 7 1/2
7.5 for me in a fitted..
7 1/4 to 7 1/2
Jason,
Kuiu continues to amaze! 7 5/8
I don’t know my hat size, which I would say is a good reason to go with an adjustable velcro closure. But a ton of other dudes know theirs, apparently, so maybe it’s just me.
7 1/2
Pea heads like me need a 6-7/8!!
Pea heads like mine need 6-7/8.
7 most of the time!
7 1/4 works great for me
7 1/8 or 7 1/4 for me!
Fitted is great! No short painter bill. Leave some room in the lid. 71/2. Look forward to your colors/logo choices.
Mark me down for a 7 3/4. Thanks Jason
7 1/4-7 3/8
I’m another pin head; 6 7/8. I too would like to see a velcro closure offered as well.
7 1/2 – 7 5/8; Nice to see so many other big heads out there! Which is why we need a bigger beanie, too.
Glad to see the interst in a fitted cap. I’m on the smaller side with a size 7

size 7 here, thanks.
Great idea. Here is something I noticed on a hat I purchased recently:
“To determine out your cap size, measure the circumference of your head with a tape measure about a half-inch above your eyebrows. Use a string if you don’t have a tape measure, and measure that against a ruler. Once you have your measurement, use the chart below to find your cap size.”

The quality of the current ball cap offerings are marginal and the one (and only one) Kuiu item I have not been impressed with.. albeit and item of least importance as they are mainly just casual cotton caps. Kuiu needs a signature technical cap in Vias. A fitted cordura would be good. Another option for a flex fit with some stretch might be using same material as the Attack pants.
You definitely need size 6-3/4 and I’ll buy quite afew!!!
7 1/4
Size 7-3/4 here
I am a 7 unless I kill a monster this year and then my head may swell to be a 14 or 20;).
7 1/4 mexican inches!
In my opinion, fitted hats are great, they make you feel that the hat was actually made for you, unfortunatelly, there are slight differences on how each hat feels and fits that I will buy a fitted hat only on a store to try it on rather than online. It would be interesting to know if people are less likely to buy fitted hats online….it might be just me that feels this way.
Cheers, from the Drug Cartel’s Country.
I am in the US Air Force, and every time I go to clothing sales to get a new hat, the 7 5/8 are always sold out (unfortunately that is my size as well) I would say that one is a very popular size for a lot of heads.
Guess I had better give my size…7 1/4
Thanks Jason

Cool- I love fitted hats! 7 1/8 in most hats for me.
I know very few guys who wear a hat as big as an 8, but I know quite a few who wear a 7. No matter what range you decide, there will be some who are bigger or smaller than the cutoff you choose… That being said, please be sure your range includes 7 1/8!
7 1/4 for me love the fitted hat idea.
7 5/8

Nothing like a good fitted hat! 7 3/8
These hats will be sick!
7-1/8, I think. Will these be short brim so we can shoot our stickbows without turning the brim around to the back?
According to this chart, I’m right between a 7-1/8 and 7-1/4. I’m assuming they will be in Vias camo?

Really, a hat maker who doesn’t believe “one size fits all”. Nothing could be further from the truth. 7.5 for me.

I have a large head. I would like to see a 7 3/4″ size.

7 3/4.
7 1/4
7 3/4
7 3/4
7 5/8 to 7 3/4 but just as important a full size hat, a lot of hats are the low cut type that sit an inch above the ears of a big head, makes it hard to pull down snug in a mountain blow.
My hat size is 7 to 7 1/4 . A fitted cap would be sweet
Big head, big Brain!? 75/8 please!
7 3/4. Also have experienced hats that fit my head in circumference yet sat up on top of my head and didn’t come down far enough. Make it a deep hat
