Awesome! Can’t wait to get mine!
Thanks Shane!!
Got my hooded jacket today, it looks awesome. I expected more loft from the pictures, now I’m a little concerned about my hunt in two weeks (last time we were there it was -36F).
What do you anticipate is a comfortable active-hunting temperature with your full system using the hooded jacket? I also have the Spindrift, should I double them up? Am I just trying to use the system in the wrong way.
Thanks for the advice.
Grey
Hi Grey,
-36F! I am not sure you can wear any one Jacket that will keep you warm in temperatures that cold. I would definitely pile on the layers.
Jason
Will it be offered in the original camo pattern too?
Thanks
Yes they will be out in March.
J
Looking forward to getting my hands on one of these!
Got mine last night. Unbelievably lightweight! Very comfortable and warm under the guide jacket in 25 degrees. The stretch panels at the wrists are a great touch, too! Time for me to sell my Kelvin jacket….
Now if only you’d come out with a hoodless Super Down vest for layering in the really cold stuff!
Jeff
Thanks Jeff. The Vest is in development.
J
Jason, are you going to have a picture of the gun metal hooded jacket up on the website soon?
Yes we just shot in Studio this week after it arrived. It will be up next week.
J
Hi Jason,
Are these coming out with 700 FP or 850 FP ?
Thanks, Dave
850+ FP 100% Polish Down
I just heard from someone that the tag on theirs says 700fp? Anyone else seeing this?
The label says “700FP Over Premium Down” Toray requires a minimum of 700 fill used to be used for Quix Down. Our spec is 850+ Polish Down.
Jason-

Can’t wait to get one of these! March for the VIAS, is a bummer!
At least, I can save some of my ‘tax-return’ for that,
Never been to Salt Lake, Utah… I hope to figure out a way to come up there for that event, and say- ‘Hello to the KUIU klan’!
May I make a request???…. I know you said, “sure”… LOL
In the future, can you at least, contemplate having the ‘Super-
Down Zip-T, FILLED with the 2.5 ounces of super-down’???
I have enough hood’s… My Guide Jacket, and Chugach Jacket have them, already. I don’t see the need, to have that on my insulation piece as well; Understanding, that you are offering a ‘less filled, hoodless zip-t’.
I personally, would love that down fill, in the ‘hoodless zip-t’, and if I am the only one…… Well then- Perhaps, I need to get a brain scan!
Something to consider,for the future!
Happiest of Holiday’s to YOU and YOUR Family-
Jeff M. Valunas
Hi Jeff,
I would encourage you to try the current Zip-T. I have received several comments/concerns that we did not put enough down fill in these garments based on comparison to other down products. We originally started with more fill in all the garments and kept removing down because the garments were too warm. The Polish Down we spec is the lightest and loftiest down in the world. We get more down per gram than any down you can buy. You get a warmer garment that weighs less.
Jason
Jason, I am wondering if there are any plans of using the super down product for a sleeping bag application? I am in the research phase of deciding which bag to buy but would hold off purchase if you guys plan on developing one. It seems like a perfect fit material wise. Thanks for putting out a top notch product, keep up the good work. CM
Yes Chris,
We are in the early development stages of the Sleeping Bag line. It will be amazing!! Happy Holidays.
Jason
Jason,
Just received my Superdown Pants and Hooded. WOW!! Nice job, these are both great, especially love the pants. Way too go
Thanks David! I appreciate the feed back.
Jason
Got Mine today, Very nice product! I got the pullover because I didn’t want the hood. Just wish it was a full zip. Im 6’5″ and got the XL. It fits great, just a little snug getting into it over the head. I also had an epiphany, How bout a fleece lined down in the future, like the new 230 wool? That be awesome!
Glad you like the Pull Over! Thanks for the feedback.
J
Jason, love my superdown hooded jacket that I received few days ago. Instantly feel the warmth, no joke!
Thanks Justin!
Jason – just got my super down hooded jacket from my wife for Christmas and I love it! However, I’m torn between keeping it and getting the zip t. The description on the shopping site says “Its well designed hood tucks away when not in use” – can you explain how the hood is supposed to tuck away? I don’t see needing the hood frequently but I like the full zipper in the jacket over the 1/4 zip in the t. Thanks!!
Hi Jason,
I would like to make a suggestion about the future sleeping bag you might be working on. Please strongly consider coming out with a full rectangular style, not just a mummy. I have long legs and would appreciate the extra room. Mummy bags have never been appealing to me. Some other people might like them, but this is just my suggestion.
Also, I strongly recommend you also look into a futuristic type of insulation called Aerogel. This type of insulation is some of the warmest insulation on earth and can keep a person warm in temperatures well below zero.
Take care & Happy New Years, Jesse
I have to say I was a little worried when I received the hooded super down in the mail. I thought there was not enough down in the jacket, but boy was I wrong. The jacket is super warm and really wind resistant. I’ve been wearing mine in -25C with normal street clothes under it and it keeps me really warm. I would not want it to be any warmer for fall hunting. Great job Jason and Kuiu team. I will be saving up for the pants!
Received pants for Christmas. Excellent. May be my favorite product yet.
Hey Jason/all,
Just wanted to say that after using this jacket for a few weeks now at 68*N in Inuvik, I can put to rest any questions anyone has about it’s ability to keep you warm in pretty much any temperature. I have been wearing this jacket regularly as an outerlayer over nothing more than a cotton t-shirt at temps between -30 and -40*C and haven’t been chilled once. This is by far the warmest jacket I have ever owned, it is better than my Patagonia Wanaka parka and all my Arcteryx. It’s now my go-to insulation layer when heading out in the bush at any temperature.
Jason, the only hiccup is that this thing sounds like a plastic grocery bag when it’s below zero. It’s the most crinkly and loud jacket I’ve ever worn. Not a major complaint because I won’t be bowhunting up close or anything with it, but if anyone is planning to be sneaky while wearing this jacket, you’re not going to pull it off! The outer fabric could use an update in future versions to reduce this phenomenon – make sure to test them at cold temps!
