What is your opinion of the warmth when wet functionality of this piece vs. the primaloft spindrift? Also, how many washes do you expect the down treatment to last before reverting to normal down characteristics? I’m always leery of unproven technology vs tried and true products.

I would also love a vest. I was going to get a Western Mountaineering vest but now I am inclined to wait for yours.

As I understood it the zip-t had less fill “density” than the hooded jacket, and wasn’t as warm (which would be good for me). I know the standard is to list to total fill wt, but different designs (such as hoods) make it difficult to compare. Folks who had the zip-t said the fill wt (warmth) was about right, so is the new jacket like the zip-t or the hooded jacket?

While helping my kid with her science fair project I saw this post and grabbed my Super Down Hooded Jacket, folded it up and put it on a scale just for fun. 9 7/8 oz, absolutely amazing. The hooded jacket is my favorite piece of clothing I own.

What is the outside fabric? Is it noisy?
Yes it is a light weight down proof micro fabric which will make noise if worn as outerwear. I strongly recommend wearing this jacket as a mid-layer when hunting.

I have seen the demonstration but down still scares me in places like the the penninsula. Have you worn super down garments in those conditions? Trusting my hunt and maybe my life to this stuff…just want to be sure.
Can y’all provide some specs on the jacket? Specifically, the body length and sleeve lengths?

I have to say I have never been a fan of camo clothing, and have avoided it at all costs. but I do have to say the more I see the Kuiu Vias the more I like it. Every field pic of Vias gear I have seen it really seems to blend in no matter the area guys are hunting. I think I might have to take the plunge and dive into a set of Vias clothing, Thats if there is any left! Once again Jason and Kuiu staff, Keep up the great work!
Does the super down jacket have much bulk. I am asking since I bow hunt and don’t want much bulk in the arms or chest area
No it does not and works great for shooting a bow!

Where has it been tested? I guess I’m asking what conditions it has been tested in? I’ve bought the Sitka Kelvin and Barney’s jacket (Alaska) and they work great for a season and then I notice they lose their effectiveness (not as warm). Is this jacket different?

I have the super down hooded jacket. I have been wearing it all winter in conditions as low as -20 C. I live in Rocky Mountains in Canada. I find the jacket cuts the wind well and is very light. I plan on taking it Sheep hunting this season.

Have you thought about making a Super Down toque? I think it would be a great addition to the line up and good for the guys who don’t want the attached hood. It would be super light and super warm. Just a thought?

I received my SuperDown jacket and am very impressed, as always.
One set follow up questions came up which are probably not a big deal, as I don’t plan to get it wet everytime out or wash it weekly.
- What results did you receive from the durability testing of the Quix Down coating?
- How many wet though or washing cycles does it take to reduce the Quix Down effectiveness and essentially return it to regular polish 850 fill down performance?
